Coming home for dental treatment?

If you live outside India and are planning dental treatment on a visit home, you will be able to share your X-rays and scan reports from where you are, talk to the doctor by video, and have a written plan before you fly. This service is being set up; here is how it is meant to work. Being set up now.

How it will work

Three steps before you fly, so your time here goes on treatment.

  1. Share what you have, from home

Send your X-rays, scan reports and photographs on WhatsApp or by email. Phone photos of a scan on a screen are fine to start with. WhatsApp: +91 98676 77249. Email: info@swamidental.com.

  2. A video pre-consult with the doctor

A pre-consultation works from abroad by video. Choose your country code when you book, and a time that suits your time zone. The doctor looks at what you have sent, asks what is bothering you, and tells you what is likely to be needed.

  3. A written plan before you fly

After the call, you get the likely plan in writing: what the doctor expects to do, what decides the cost, and how many visits it is likely to take. It is a plan, not a promise; the examination in the clinic may change it.

Planning the visits

Some treatments can be done across a few visits in one trip. Others, implants in particular, usually need time to heal between stages, so they may take two trips some months apart. The doctor will tell you which applies to you before you book flights. No durations are promised on this page; they depend on what the examination finds.

What to bring

  • The originals of anything you sent, if you have them.
  • A list of the medicines you take, and any allergies.
  • Any dentures, retainers or night guards you wear.
  • Your return date, so visits can be planned around it.
Things to bring to a first visit, laid out on a table: old reports in a leather folder, medicines and a written list, reading glasses, a phone.

Diwali and the winter months are busy, as many families visit then. If you are travelling for the festival, send your reports early.
